- Grand Prix Basic Skills Competition Series.
Area clubs have not supported the Series because:
- General notion of Basic Skills Competitions is to have a fun
local competition and not place the pressure of the series on the skaters.
- It is hard to find judges.
- Additional fees to support the series may turn some potential competitors away.
- Any skater who wishes to compete in another club's competition is welcome.
- New Business:
- Tomas' papers. His current papers were reviewed with recommendations regarding
re-submitting the applicaton and the appropriate timeline to do so.
- May Meeting
April 29 - May 2, 2010; Costa Mesa, CA
Proxies - Bill will attend. His USFS number is 299511.
- Test fees. The fees charges by several area clubs were reviewed with some clubs making
minor adjustments to keep all clubs in the same range for
similar tests.
Club concerns:
- Skaters not in good standing testing at other clubs.
New Board Members, who do not know the situation, are asked to sign test papers
and do so thinking they are helping out.
Concluded that new Board Members need more training.
- Accepting improperly filled out checks for test fees (or other fees as well).
New Test Chairs are not as diligent as they should be when processing applications
including checks submitted.
As with new Board Members, the Test Chairs need training.
