Meeting Notes

1. In attendance: Linda M^cDonald – Massena FSC, Brenda Gravander & Bill Mein – Potsdam FSC and Linda LaRue – St. Lawrence FSC
2. Approval of the Agenda. Agenda approved as presented.
3. Secretary's Report. No changes.
4. Treasurer's Report.
   Balances: Checking - $385.65; CD - $2,535.13.
5. Unfinished Business:
   1. Northern Council delegates et. al. update.
      No additional information to report.
      Bill to ask Colleen to send out another query to see if we can get more information on delegates.
6. New Business:
   1. Calendar updates - see the Northern Council Calendar for more details.
      1. 2.08.2009 - St Lawrence FSC test session will be at Appleton, not the Pavilion
      2. 3.04.2009 - Ogdensburg FSC, Carnival, The Dome - Colleen Berry
7. Club concerns:
   1. What impact will the Coaching Membership Definition have on the clubs?
      1. All coaches should be members of PSA.
      2. Coaches have two years (until July 1, 2010) to get the Continuing Educations Credits (CEUs).
      3. There are different CEU requirements for different categories.
      4. PSA will monitor it and provide each coach with a card of some sort indicating their status for the year.
      5. Many of the credits can be obtained online.
      6. The main concern is how will each club monitor this at day, an inter club competition? This issue is not resolved yet but in general it is felt that it will be done at the registration table.
   2. Reminder of the new Coaching Member Definition and Continuing Education Requirements - effective July 1, 2010. There are four categories for coaches:
      1. Category A: Professional Coach (or Choreographer) of Qualifying Competition Skaters.
      2. Category B: Professional Coach (or Choreographer) of Skaters Participating in the following US Figure Skating Sanctioned Events (Excluding Qualifying Events in Category A):
         • US Figure Skating Tests (pre-preliminary and up)
         • Non-qualifying Competitions (pre-preliminary and up)
         • Non-qualifying Event at a Qualifying Competition
      3. Category C: Group Instructor; i.e., teaches group instruction only
      4. Category D: Professional Sports Science Support Services; e.g., Sports Psychologist; PT; ATC; or the like
8. Announcements:
   • Lynne Hudson's Free Skating appointment has arrived!
