  1. Present: Bill Mein (Potsdam FSC), Patricia Carvill (Massena FSC), Dianne Loonan (FSC Watertown), Brenda Gravander (Potsdam FSC), and Bob Neulieb (Clayton FSC).

  2. Secretary's Report: Bill's notes from the March meeting were mailed.

  3. Financial Report: The financial reports for March were distributed.

  4. Old Business:
    1. Calendar Updates - Additions and changes were presented. (An updated calendar is available on the Northern Council web site.) Our web site is updated as items are given to Bill.
    2. By-Laws - No further work has been completed.
    3. May Meeting Concerns - There is a concern about the changes in the number of regional competitions created by redistricting. This will add to a more limited availability of judges for those competitions.
Ann Gerli's report is found on page 513.
  5. New Business:
    1. Nominating Committee - As it is an even number year, a vice president and secretary need to be elected. Patti is willing to stay on as VP.
    2. Ann Gerli - NC will invite Ann Gerli, our USFSA member at large to a summer meeting. We will also invite our sanctions officer, Karen Terry. A date and time to be investigated.
    3. Canadian Judges - Lynn Hudson, Peter Fiori, and Rhian Walter (all from the Ottawa area) are considering applying for status as USFSA test judges. In order to do this they will need to join a USFSA club and attend a moves' school. If they do gain USFSA status, Northern Council will organize a reception for clubs to meet these judges.
There is no longer a distinction between the Canadian and US judges - a panel of judges may be from Canada.
  6. Announcements:
    1. There will be a synchro judges' school on April 27 in Providence, RI. Kim and Sherry Will be attending.
    2. Potsdam, Ogdensburg, and Norflok-Norwood have helped support Bill's attendance at the May meeting.
    3. There is a Book meeting in Sturbridge, MA on May 4.
  7. Club Concerns:
    1. The need for a high school diploma to skate on a collegiate team was discussed. Homeschoolers do not receive a NYS diploma.
    2. Fewer test sessions are being offered, many of which are lower level. This causes our upper level skaters to travel great distances. There are fewer than five judges in our area. Our older judges have deceased and many judges do not want to come to NNY.

Next Meeting: May 21, 7:00pm. McNamara's in Potsdam
