Old Business:
Calendar updates -
Additions and changes were presented. (An updated calendar is attached.) Our
web site is updated as items are given to Bill.
Northern Council By-Laws - The Northern Council By-Laws
are being compared to a sample version from USFSA. Information from
USFSA
regarding athlete representation on Boards
has been requested.
Judges school -
Charlie Cyr is willing to work on whatever type of school NC would like to host.
Note: This is not quite correct, Bill emailed Charlie and said
Northern Council is willing to host whatever kind of school he would like to see in
Northern NY.
Charlie has not responded as of this date [17 Mar '01].
New Business -
USFSA Committees - Each club should have
received forms requesting names of individuals who would be interested in
serving on USFSA committees. There is a list in the USFSA
Directory of committees.
Currently, Bill and Doreen Myers serve on committees.
MIF Tape - The new MIF instructional video is available through PSA
for $40.
Annual USFSA Meeting - The meeting will be held May
8-12 in Las Vegas. Bill and Dianne will attend. The deadline for submitting
club forms to declare delegates was February 28. If your club has not
submitted this form, they will be accepted past the deadline. In order for
your club to receive a copy of what occurs at the Annual Meeting, delegate
names must be submitted. The deadline for submitting proxy forms is March
30. If no one from your club will be attending, your club may designate Bill
(USFSA# 299511) or Dianne (USFSA
# 646224) as proxy for your club.
North Council Elections - The positions of president and treasurer are open this year. A
Nominating Committee needs to be appointed in April.
Announcements:
Bill has attended Board Meeting in Clayton,
Potsdam, Massena, and Norfolk-Norwood.
Some skaters have become ineligible through no fault of their own.
When asked "How do skaters become ineligible?"
USFSA replied: On the membership form the question' Are you a coach?' is asked.
If they answer "yes' and have not completed a coach's registration form,
we code them as ineligible.
The skater is NOT notified that this has been done.
(It would take WAAy too much time.)
Bill thinks that the following is true, but will not be able to test it now because
the events for the season are closed:
For qualifying competitions, the member is checked through the computer program.
For non-qualifying competitions, this is not done.
Members may check on their
eligibility. Reinstatement is done by completing a form.
Each club should have received a request for bids
to host qualifying events in 2002 and 2003.
Paul Lankford is now able to work in the Norfolk-Norwood Club.
Concerns:
The greatest concern that the officers or NC have is attendance at NC meetings.
A survey is enclosed.
Next Meeting: March 20th, 2001,
7:00pm, Massena Arena (not the mall), Massena, NY 13662
