Financial Report: Report was accepted as distributed.
Old Business:
Calendar updates - Additions and changes were presented. (An
updated calendar is attached.) Our website is updated as items are given
to Bill.
Adirondacks -
The announcements have been printed and distributed.
New Business:
Scheduling of Test Sessions -
Dates of test sessions are placed on the NC calendar.
It is not the right of NC to dictate when test sessions will
be held by NC clubs.
Much of the ice time is determined by hockey schedules.
It was suggested that NC sponsor a time for test chairs
to meet in early fall to discuss schedules.
Announcements:
Bob mock, former president of PSA, will not support us in
obtaining Canadian coaches. (Note, Bob said "PSA will
not support us in this endeavor." He did not say, one way or the
other, whether he would or would not support us.)
Dance coaches are in shortage throughout the country,
not just Northern NY.
Pat French, an international judge, has Guilain-Barre syndrome
and may not be able to referee at Worlds in Minneapolis.
Lloyd Ogilvie, a Canadian judge who judges at many local events,
passed away on January 6, 2000.
He was instrumental in starting precision.
Brenda made a motion to send a $50.00 contribution to his church.
This motion was seconded by Bob and carried.
His wife's address is: 1175 Brenner Rd, Fort Erie,
ON L0S 1N0.
Competition announcements need to be specific as to what jumps
will not be allowed beneath a given level.
It needs to be clearly stated in the announcement.
Mandatory deductions are taken for any jump that is not allowed
as per the announcement.
Time element is also a problem as the judges stop judging a
program at the end of the allotted time.
The use of Competitive and Festival Tracks for SyS Teams in
Canada has caused the Festival teams to come to the US to compete.
(Note: There is a difference in the qualifications
between Festival and Competitive teams in Canada with the
Festival being more generous - 25% can be up to age 19 in
Novice for example.)
NC was well represented, with approximately 45 teams, at the
Buffalo Synchronized Skating Competition.
(Note: there were about 45 teams at the competition,
the north country did not have 45 teams.)
Club Concerns:
Basic Skills Competition do not need to be sanctioned unless
a skater has passed a USFSA test.
Competition announcements should indicate, if an insufficient
number of skaters enter an event, whether an exhibition with
critique will be provided or if the money will be refunded.
Skating Magazine is advertising a $25/yr subscription on a
flyer that is being placed in each Basic Skills record book that
is distributed.
Club secretaries should have received delegate forms and proxy
forms for the USFSA annual meeting.
The deadline for registering club delegates is Feb. 11.
Each club should designate delegates so they will receive packets
of information prior to and following the meeting.
April 7 is the deadline for proxy votes.
Currently Bill is the only NC person who plans to attend the
meeting in GA in May.
If your club would like him to act as your proxy, his USFSA
number is 299511.
Massena announcements were distributed.
Next Meeting: February 15th, 2000, 7:00pm,
McNamara's, Potsdam, NY
